There was lots of interesting discussion on this on CNBC on Tuesday. The taxes paid to Ireland are based on a legal agreement between Apple and Ireland. Even Ireland says that Apple does not owe more taxes. The European Commission order will be appealed in a likely 3-year process. Even if collected, the higher EU corporate taxes will not affect Apple very much, but will have a chilling effect on future business deals in the EU.
