Klaus and Renate in New Zealand

Klaus is one of the wonderful people I met in my 33+ years at The University of Alabama. As a senior analyst at the Vienna, Austria, Institute for Advanced Studies, Klaus designed and coded a computer application (IAS, Interactive Analysis System) for managing and solving systems of simultaneous equation. Klaus visited the University and he and I worked with Nobel laureate Dr. Lawrence Klein at the UN to demonstrate the potential of IAS as an application to support Dr. Klein's global econometric model.

Klaus and Renate are celebrating their 33 years together by circumnavigating the good planet earth!

Way to go Renate and Klaus! Have a wonderful time!

First Project in the Shop

I spent January 1, 2011, or 1-1-11 as some would say, working in the new shop reworking the antenna feeds through the crawl space and preparing the single ground point.  The feed lines now hang from 3/4" pipe hooks.  The feed lines can be easily added or removed.  The single ground point is under the steps outside the shop door.  The waterproof box will hold polyphaser lightening arrestors connected to two ground rods.  The smashed finger was just a bonus.
